Statement By President Of Nepal
India and Nepal are at odds after the Indian side issued a new political map incorporating Kalapani and Lipu Lekh on its side of the border in October last year. The tension between the two countries flared up lately after the Indian side inaugurated a link road that passes through the territory belonging to Nepal.
Nepali government is fully committed to the protect the territory of the country. Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipulekh belong to Nepal and appropriate diplomatic measures will be adopted to resolve existing issues with India. We will publish the map which will also include the relevant territory,” said President Bhandari in her speech delivered in Nepali.
The announcement of a new map is being viewed as a response to India’s publication of a new political map in 2019, which depicted the newly formed Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The same map had triggered the border row with Nepal as it showed the tri-junction territory of Kalapani as part of the state of Uttarakhand.
Nepal had set up an armed border outpost in the westernmost part of the country, saying the outpost will be used for observation of Indian activities and will be strengthened over time.
Total Area After New Map Of Nepal :
Before , the total area of Nepal was 147,181, sq.km where Limpiyadhura, Kalapani & Lipulekh were not included in the map. So from this we can easily guess that after the endorsement of New Map of Nepal, the total area of Nepal would be more that before because in this Map Limpiyadhura, Kalapani & Lipulekh are included . The official details related to the total area ,etc are yet to announced.
